TCM

With JY poor appetite & recurring ezcema, we brought her to TCM. The Doc put together some concoctions of ginseng, fish maw and other stuff. It's supposedly of good quality that it costs a whooping $400. It's the most expensive treatment that JY had by far , my jaws dropped and i nearly told her i don't want it anymore.

WJ's parents insisted to foot the bill for the love of their grand-daughter. Now, every pin-drop size of powder scattered on the floor/table-top, i scooped it up & ate it. Seemingly, with this TCM & a change of timing to feed her lunch/dinner, she was eating a small scoop of porridge each time. Not bad for the past 2 days.

JY's Words & Actions II

Recently her vocabulary grew in spurts again...

Paper - refer to newspapers
Table
Lorry
Bus
Car
Bike
Tabin - Table
Dustbin
Bra - Zebra
Pupp - Puppy
Fsh - Fish
Wow Wer - Flower
Bubberbye - Butterfly

JY repeats what we said to her only once, but she will not say it a second time and change her focus on the next course of actions instead.

She imitates us in ways unexpectedly.

- She pulls out a tissue from the box, wipe the floor & crumbled it up (as what we often do at WJ's place when during mealtimes)
- She threw papers in dustbin
- She can now successfully insert the key into the keyhole & attempt to unlock the door-lock, pull at the door-lock & push down on the handle of the metal- gate
- Playing catching, run while we catch her & in turn, run after us to catch us, then hurriedly run away for us to catch her again,.....& so on
- Points & stick out her head as if for a closer look
- Break wind loudly & laugh sheepishly (and she really can produce a really loud one)

And she has earn herself another nickname...my dad calls her Chili Padi and sis calls her fiesty JY.

Love- Hate Durians?

When i was pregnant with JY, WJ secretly harboured that i would suddenly crave for durians and start to gorge myself with the smelly fruit. Well, his hopes were dashed as i couldn't stand the strong smell even more when i was pregnant.

When JY was born, he then have hopes that she would love the fruit then..well, i have no objections to it since it will be her choice whether she like it or not. I have expose her to durians 3 times, and it has yield the same results.

IPhone & Blackberry

JY love playing with phones and of course, she chooses to meddle with Uncle KT's Blackberry & IPhone.

She gives funny expression and have this goofy laughter.

She mastered a 'Popeye' face the past week as well....and she kept repeating at the command of 'Give the Popeye Face! "

Urbanathlon & Little Gym

31 January 2010

JY overslept! On a nice cosy Sunday morning, our plan is to cheer WJ on for his first Urbanathon, i thought JY will wake up at her usual 6ish-630am. She woke up only at 7am! We took a ride from WJ's parents and rushed down to Clarke Quay and met the tail-end of the race, we hurried to the the Riverside Point, praying that WJ hasn't cleared the checkpoint yet.

This race is men's answer to all women's race like Shape Run, Great Eastern 10km Run. The Urbanathlon comprises of a 12km route with 8 checkpoints whereby they are to complete the urban obstacles, a bit like army's SOC....

She was so quiet watching the whole race of men jogging past and was silently observing what was going around her. We saw some struggling to just finish the race, we saw one, apparently also a army regular, whose head is wrapped under a bloody bandage and he is easily the top 30% of the race, wow.

We waited for around 10minutes when we caught sight of WJ at 8am! Yea,!! JY was both excited but awed that she forgot to cheer WJ but just stared at him for some minutes before breaking into a smile. How i know she was excited? She held on tightly to a container ( which kept her entertained in the morning car ride) and never let go till a good half-hour later.

5-10mins later, WJ is joined by Edric & Yongtai and they took a group picture despite an out-of-breath Edric.

After waving them off, we sauntered along the riverside gawking at more racers. We cabbed down to Marina Square and JY ran amok in the big and empty shopping mall, yelping at the large space in front of her.

We slowly picked our way to the End Point and saw racers in all patterns of mud-splatter, this is an example of a full mud splatter..some are half-splatter, some have mud caked to the specs, hair....yucks.

JY cheering & clapping the racers to "Go Go Go!"

At the end point, we barely needed to wait for more 30mins, when WJ completed his race at around 1hr17mins! We manage to also cheer on WJ's friends as well who completed the race too!

A very clean WJ who has minimum mud-splatter, only at his legs....

Again, the mud splatter patterns differs...

WJ, Edric & YT at the End Point.

We caught sight of Roy, admired for his relentless pursuits of endless races after races.

Throughout the whole race, i was just thinking would i be able to complete the obstacles and race if i were racing and would there be a women's race?? should be fun! From the looks of the racers, it was a good race. Well, to a bigger Urbanathlon..and to WJ's next event, the Biathlon on March!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Straight after, WJ washed up and had a Mac's breakfast, we are off to Forum. We went to the Mummy's Room and it's the classiest room i ever ever seen so far! Doesn't this resembles a hotel room, i think the designer must have been a mum with good taste to furnish this room as opposed to all the other mummy rooms which seems to be just put together to serve a function i.e sit and breastfeed.
We proceded to Little Gym to join Teresa & little Charles (eh, not so little) for the morning gym. It was so sweet for Teresa & Charles to invite JY for this class. Excited to see how JY respond and react socially to the other toddlers.
To our amusement, JY shoot off straight and make herself comfortable around the class gym, exploring the place and went around making friends. All along, we understand and know JY is not shy in front of strangers but in a social setting among her peers, it was just an affirmation that my little one is an out-going and fiesty girl. Not one to be shy to even teachers, she stood in front of the instructor and her new friends, shriek in delight, clapped her hands, got her balls, clappers, etc. She sometimes was over-enthuasiastic that she wasn't listening and half the time, was doing what she likes. well, i don't know whether to let her be or try to guide her to conform to the class....
At least, i know the options are there to engage her physically.
靖贻 姨姨 - Wedding of the Year
At last my sister got hitched and JY got to experience the whole works of it...
My sis & KT building a home of their own..........one is a designer, the other a builder....
KT will have to face a lot of my sister's pouts..........at least she's pretty to look at
No choice...he has signed it all away!
KT & his XDs considered squeezing in through the windows and glad that they are physically matured to know their limits....hah...
JY curious about all the hype in the morning......
After observing for a whole 2 hours of the crowded living room, poor JY succumbed to sleep right after KT completed his tasks, as if she's waiting for him to come in before dropping off to dreamland.
Topping off the morning ceremony with a family photo, JY is sleeping behind the closed door
The evening solemnisation was held at Palm Gardens, a simple elegant ceremony orchestrated by Heaven's Gift. Hannah and her team is professional and meticulous to details, quite a delight to work with after the kinks are ironed out.
Dinner was held at the cosy East India rooms at Raffles Hotel. No pompous announcement or activity, no loud cheesy dinner music, just a cosy & intimate dinner celebrations. It was my first time emceeing, it helps to have WJ as my co-emcee, and perhaps my last!
Well, tis was a good celebrations and i can't wait for the ceremony in Bali!! Yea!!
East Coast
One fine Sunday morning, WJ's whole family & us went to East Coast for breakfast and a walk.
We rented bicycles and went for a morning spin, except for JY, me & WJ's mum, we had a nice stroll along the beach. JY enjoyed the sunday walk & greeted birds, dogs and east coast walkers with her warm smile and inquisitive looks.
JY loves pointing at dogs, the sea, joggers, spooted one of family, trees, birds, new attractions, and oh look, Daddy is there!
We even bumped into the ssc group of aunties aka Auntie LKM & GodMa setting up flea market stall and JY tried helping them out....
By Modelling for them...."Oh Aunties!..doesn't the necklace match my sunhat!"
High Needs Baby to Demanding Toddler
Much as i like to blog just happy things, happy progress, happy development, i need to ventilate. Sometimes i'm a total loss at understanding JY.
I came across somewhere that a "difficult" baby is one with unpredictable routines where you find it hard to manage. Then i try goggling "difficult baby" and found a blog that a mum kept whom have high needs baby (aka "difficult" baby). Realised that all these behaviours that JY exhibits since young baby typifies high demands. In turn her caregiver have to be patient and provides her with all the attention and demands she needed. She does not react well to being discipline, routines and strict rules.
She is still fussy about food, not eating her lunch & dinner, prefering fruits, milk & little tit-bits. Refuses her water & bites the spout to prevent sipping too much.
Takes nap at unpredictably timing and only for 30-60mins max twice a day. Hard time to fall asleep at night, bedtime shifted to 8- 830pm. must be accompanied by us to fall asleep.
Insist on her own way & kick up a fuss if she's not given what she wants. Now resorted to hitting or flaying her arms to hit at someone. constantly trying her luck at something she was just asked not to do.
My energy was constantly sapped and patience tested to the limits. At nights, can't rest properly as she sometimes wakes up at night and couldn't fall asleep for an 1 hr or so and cries cos she's tired...
I have to keep reminding myself that we are blessed with this child and most imptly guided by the simple fact that we want to raise her up with happy childhood memories.
