Feeding JY & Mummy

JY has non-stop surprises for us all the time. She started off with passing keys to my dad's outreached hands and we were of course impressed by her because we did not teach her that at all. It has become so regular we started to ask her to pass us all sorts of stuff, hankies, paper, cards, etc.....

I have tried various brands of organic snacks on her and she didn't fancy original rice cakes, the little round 'xiao man tou' and even oat biscuits. Few weeks ago, i got this HappyBaby Apple Puffs and she got hooked on it. Since then, she learnt to pick up the star-shaped puffs and started to feed herself using her cutesy teeny weeny fingers. One morning, I decided to try and see if she knows how to feed me and she really did attempted to place the puff into my mouth when i requested her to do so!

In any case, my dad's commentary in the background is quite a laugh too....

Butterfly & Seashell

These few weeks, JY's understanding and interpretation of the world improves leaps and bounds. Everyday was a new discovery for JY & her knowledge was rapidly storing up. We can teach her once and the second time, she has it all stored in her brains.

She recognised most of the animals found on the mat & even attempt to catch the butterfly by upturning of the palm, imitating the catching action. She remembers fishes swimming in the little pond at WJ's place.

Dancing Queen

The little girl has started jiving to the music. It started off with me playing music to lull her to sleep in her early months and on random days for the past 2 months, she eagerly ask for some music for her naps and the best part, she know where to get it. She'll insist for my mum to bring her to my sister's room and switch on the CD and there, she'll fall asleep to soothing jazz music, same at WJ's place.

Then, in the afternoons, she'll bring my mum to my sis's room once more and ask to play music. So, she'll jive to Le Vie En Rose and other music. She'll start to jump like live prawns when someone say "Dance, Jingyi, Dance!" The adults have so much fun dancing along with her, we took turns to carry & be a partner to JY and she relish the impromptu dances.

Little Red Coupe & Pink Oriental Shoes

Yi-Yi bought another toy for JY...a little red coupe!

JY wearing the pink oriental shoes bought by Jiu-Jiu...so cute!

Morning Activity

My mum & Jingyi have daily walks, twice daily in fact. One Saturday morning many weeks ago, my mum, sis & bro took JY to the playground & her current favourite activity, chasing birds.

She is always intrigued by the "No kicking soccer" sign hung at the void deck below and yearn to touch the out-of-reach sign.

i didn't even know there's a nearby playground close to my mum's place. She rode on the horsie and sat the swing with a very happy Uncle.

The birds in the vicinity knew my mum & JY so well, that they flew off before JY launched into her attacks.

eh, this video did not capture her excitement though...but nonetheless, this is how we look when she engages in the chasing birds activity....to the amusement to many onlookers for the past 1month.

JY's passport

I manage to settle JY's passport online! For a moment, i was worried that her passport will not be ready in time for our trip in few weeks time and it's all because of her slacker mom who procrastinate the submission.

To my surprise, ICA processed the application with ease and efficiency, even offering to re-size the photograph of JY to the requirements as the photo was sort of distorted. It's ready for collection!

Well, what about the photo? must be white background, hair well above the forehead, look into camera (that's not a problem for JY), cannot be blurred, face cannot in the shadows, etc... so we hurriedly took a photo on a saturday morning and the result was so SATISFYINGGGGG!My dear JY does not have the shocked or blurred look, instead she was looking alert & smiling gleefully in the photo! Well, i was hoping that cos of her cute photo, the ICA officer also took pleasure to help us process the passport lar and HOPEFULLY, for all subsequent trips with her in tow, we can pass by the customs cheerfully too!

Soccer for JY?

It's all my dad's doing that she loves to kick the ball around....and perhaps the sound of the football matches exposed to when she's a baby has something to do with it......... after when she sleep, it was horrible cos she had nightmares and kept crying in her sleep

My dad's words of wisdom

My mum was reading to JY one of the small little books, and she manages to sit through the entire book without much fidgeting. My dad saw and didn't comment until they finishes with the book " Have you finish the tuition with your grand-daughter?" My mum was speechless....

JY Learning New Tricks

We have been teaching JY quite a number of things to JY, including
1. Goodbye with hand action
2. Put up your Hand
3. Let Me Pinch your Nose
4. Clap Your Hand
5. Kiss (normally a book or toy)

This little girl long mastered all these but she flat out refused to perform and regurgitate the actions back to us no matter how much we cajole her...Then one morning, under my dad's booming voice she did Action 2 -4 in a straight row. JY also will not entertain us if we ask her to repeat the action more than once or twice.

Evening Mama

my mum was always full of stories when i come home from work. little anecdotes of how my little girl has grown a bit each day.

Anecdote #1 : She's babbling a string of words to my mother recently.

Anecdote #2: She enjoys going out to send us off work in the morning and welcome us back home in the evening, where she attracts tons of attention. Little JY would smile obligingly back and play along with these strangers.

Anecdote #3: She knows where to stop when my mum said "Stop" especially when it comes to the kitchen and toilet areas. She'll turn around and look at my mum.

Anecdote #4: She's taking walks around my living room table, still needing to support her way around. Recently, she allow my mum to only support her with one hand to toddle around

Anecdote #5: Once my mum scolded harsher than normal, she almost broke into tears and held back so much that it shows in her face and look at my mum with her downturn mouth that my mum's heart ache for this little girl.

Now, she cried a little when she sees me walking away to work. sigh, these days i spend so little time yet again due to work..i feel so extremely guilty and thinking of alternative work arrangements to spend more time with her.

I'm so happy that she seems learning fast and yet sad that i'm not around to experience it first-hand but as a bedside stories when i catch up with my mum in the evenings.

East Coast Beach

East Coast Park is a place where i used to go for long runs reluctantly in the mornings and it's never at a leisurely pace. It's always either rush cos i'm late, or run faster cos i wan to improve on my timing, thus it was a place that i frequent for sports.

The, last Saturday, we have ambitious plans for JY to have a day of fun! We took the chance to go for a morning stroll & breakfast by East Coast beach. Oh, what a difference a baby makes, we were so excited and raring to go to ECP!
We drove through Macs and park ourselves down at one of the shadier spots. JY scrabbled around the mats and explored the perimeters, occasionally glue herself to us for some love, then scoot off to explore something else again.

She still loves to munch on anything she can get her mouth on...and with the sprouting of 5 teeth, she bites with gusto....her sight was constantly locked on something fresh and new, like a buzzing bee along the grass.

JY & Her Yi-Yi had so much fun playing swing swing in the sun and it definitely shows up in their faces! :)

We all took turns to bring JY to the edge of the water, with her little toes digging into the sand, then cringes & curl up with every in-coming tide.

JY & Her Grandma who NEVER get tired playing with her....

She's so tired....but the naughty little girl was kicking up a big fuss in her seat one minute, the next, she fell into a deep sleep...
