JY & Her God-Ma

It's See Moo Moo! There's this affinity between the 2 of them, JY smiled and willingly let See Moo Moo carry her from the first time they met...

JY received a gift of many small cutsy books and God-Ma is already on duty by reading to JY....

Semi-Solids

JY is a picky eater. she only eats her solids if it tastes VERY nice..if it's just average or bland (fish & vegetable), she'll give a grimace on her face and REFUSE after 2-3 spoonfuls....clamming her mouth shut no matter how much we prod or cajole her. so we have to make sure to include at least one 'sweet' foodstuff (sweet potato, carrot, pumpkin, etc)

She loves some mixture i put together like mash of carrot & potato & onions (see pic), mash of fish & tomato & carrot. She is ok with porridge but thick consistency ones, not those watery, thin version. Her absolute LOVE is cereal, brown rice, oatmeal..now trying barley cereal....

my first recipe of carrot, potato & onions...taste nice!

Fruits are an all-time favourites but she draw the line at pears and avocado. It's enjoyable to think of her feeds and what new to try for her, it just consume my weekend to think up of recipe, mix and cook and blend for her. I'm slowly compiling a mini recipe for babies!

Outing with Daddy

WJ has a day off so he brought her out alone....and i was hard at work in office...how i wish i could accompany them on this..but nevermind, its great father-daughter bonding session...

So, JY sits at the back in her seat as WJ is driving, and well, she cried in her seat most time of the ride as usual.

First stop, Marina Barrage..with the Flyer and city skyline as backdrop. It oversees the latest Marina Bay Sands (MBS) development and is Singapore 15th reservoir turning Marina Basin into the 1st City reservoir. It contains mostly seawater with the barrage in place, then using natural flushing method (How it's done is that with rainwater coming through from Singapore, it will drain into the Basin, then water level is high, the series of crest gates & pumps will release water into the sea.) By doing this over 1-2 years, the Basin will turn into a body of freshwater.

Next time when JY is older and wiser, the whole waterfront will be transform completely.

She enjoys looking at other older children playing at the nearby field. sitting and playing at the mat in WJ's fav sleeveless flower-print dress

Hope when JY grow up in the future, she'll understand how precious water is to Singapore and the world and contribute to the sustainable development and growth in future as a responsible user.

Overdue Photos

WJ took these photos and we really like JY in her polka dot rompers, she was only 4months+. Coincidentally, i was in polka dots too!

JY was teased with Coke and she was staring intently at the Coke can...i hope it's just because she's attracted to the red colour.

Playfulness is her middle name with her giggling and laughing at her daddy and friends antics and dialogue even if it doesn't concern her at all. She listen intently at every conversation and stare as if they were talking to her.

Even as early as 4months, she rather sacrifice sleep over playing no matter how tired she is...

Sun, Sand & Sea

When JY is 6months old, we brought her to Sentosa to have a small outing and celebrate her half way mark. We wanted to also see her reaction to the sun, sand and sea.

JY was quietly observing her surroundings the moment we got out of the sandy carpark near the defunct KM8, curious about the waving coconut trees and shining sun reflected off the sand of Sentosa. We were also greeted with an unexpected strong wind that ruffles JY's hair so wildly and thankfully lessen the sting from the hot sun. I was prepared and slather on toddlers' milk from Ego, smells nice and suitable for JY's sensitive skin.

We went to a shady shelter along w WJ's friends. JY enjoyed the gushing wind, lying comfortably on whoever is carrying her. Stepping on the doraemon strawmat, seeing people in beachwear, smelling the salt from the sea, feeling the wind in her hair on her skin and having sand everywhere!

JY & Uncle Jesper.....

The wind is so strong that it gives JY a new hairstyle.

Later, we placed a sleepy JY in the pram, instead it gave her another view of the beach that it gave her a reason to keep awake. Staring at the vast sea with the hazy outlines of big tankers and ships, it's enough to keep her entertain for a while

I can't open my eyes with the strong wind! Making friends with the wind with unfriendly hand-sign. Hmm, it's so nice to daze at the beach, now i know why mummy & daddy likes to laze at the beach so much

Mummy, look at the boys playing! Oh Daddy, please take nice shots of me

Ok, mummy is not looking at me..yum yum...my pram tastes so nice...

ops, caught in action.

Mummy, look at Daddy, he wants my toy...ok lah, Dad..i let you play with it a while you return to me when you are done ok?

Uncle Jason also want my toy too! Hmm, Uncles don't want to play with me anymore?

I'm so happy at the beach...Mum, Dad, promise we come again ok?

Sit & Stand..Err..Crawl?

Since she's 6 months, JY made a decent effort to sit up without wobbly much and have a good sense of balance, well...its because i was pushing her in a pram and i noticed that she pretty much sat without falling over despite the gravel ground and she was trying to balance by lifting her legs and arms on the side of the pram to prevent herself from toppling over. She has been sitting quite solidly by herself with no support for 15-30mins!

She still prefer standing over sitting, prefer sitting over lying down. Her knees will lock and extend straight whenever we tried to sit her down and it's as though she is water-skiing, refusing to sit down properly.

Just slightly shy of 7months, she attempts to sit up from a 45degree position and wants to clamber up to standing position but of course she has not enough strength.

Then more recently, a week ago or so, she started to leverage on the railing to prop up and the result is as such..........

She still don't like the crawling positions as numerous attempts on her bellies will end up in frustration and cries as she still can't move much. So far, all of us witness her itching to stand on her feet and she's capable of taking more than a couple of steps with us supporting her BUT she still doesn't want to attempt to crawl.

Organic vs Mass Market

I have bought organic cereals so far for Jingyi and thought why not try the mass market packs from the Supermart since its not sustainable and convenient to keep buying the more expensive organic foodstuff anyway. So I went to Giant and bought 2 packs of visually yummy cereals. I was hesitant as they conduct skim milk powder, diary products that JY has not ingested other than indrectly through my breastmilk.

Well, the following day at noon, i got calls from home. My mum told me JYdevelop a bad case of rashes around her mouth and body after her meal of cereal (new mass market brand), vomited and diarrhoea. Even her water & EBM got vomited out after that as well..practically she could not contain any food in her stomach the whole morning.

So i rushed home immediately, abandoning my meetings and even my pump at work. The poor girl was slumped against my mum, listless, pale and pasty and barely could work out some whimpers. All it takes is a few hugs and her favourite food to perk her up and elicit some activity a few hours later, Dr Loke pointed out that it's common for some babies to be allergic to a protein found in cow's milk and some to even goat's milk or soy's milk. It's all about trial and error for trying out what triggers off the allergy. He further advices to stick to organic cereal as the quality of mass market brands are not that good. sigh, seems like it's the only way now and to stick the occasional diary products in to JY to test her allergy reaction.

意难忘

It's showing every Mon to Fri 4.30-5.30pm Channel 8. Staple for housewives or retirees. I know there's 1 baby in my family who is familiar with the tune of this drama serial, though she is not allowed to watch it...

She's so tuned to it, my mum said she'll often turn her head to the TV...

Cute Tshirts

Is Jingyi the Apple of Her Mummy's Eyes? (t-shirt print)

Yes, when she's not screaming/crying/whining.

So is Jingyi as gorgeous as Her Mummy?

OF COURSE WITHOUT A DOUBT!

thank you aunty vivian for buying such cute rompers :)

Teething

JY has sprouted her first tooth, and of course it's her ever observant and experienced Po-Po who told the first-timer mummy (me) on a Monday morning..and we, the parents did not even know that the teeth maybe the cause of her fussiness and irritable mood the last weekend.

In shock, i rub along her lower gums and felt the sharp edge of a budding tooth..then it struck me that maybe that's what causes the slight pain when i nurse her the past week but i brushed it off thinking i was over-sensitive.

Well, it's another milestone and slowly i realised my little bubbling baby is growing up........ i qickly scrambled to find this...a gift that her Jiu Jiu couldn't resist to buy on a John Little sale...a whole 6 mths too early, but well, who cares.. :)

'Disney princesses' toothpaste & Rabbit toothbrush

Best of Friends with Freddy

Everytime without fail, Freddy the Firefly will perk Jingyi up and so often will hear the rustling sound of JY manhandling Freddy and WJ (driver's seat who cannot see JY) would comment " Is she playing with Firefly again?
"

This video was shot in the night, ride back to WJ"s hse.

Shoes Galore

Jingyi has the potential to be a millipede. Even before she has started to walk, she has 10 pairs of shoes!!

Yi yi bought a bluish-brown pair from US, when JY's 6mths old in mummy's stomach. Po-po bought a soft yellowish-gold pair from cambodia. Uncle Colin gave 2 cute shoes w prints.

Aunt Jenny gave a denim pair, someone gave the pink pair during JY's 1st Mth, Mummy bought a brown pair from Fox(at a discount & too cute to miss).

Jiu Jiu just came back from Taiwan..No prizes for guessing who got the most gifts... He bought 2 pairs of cutie oriental red & pink pairs of shoes. He further went to a Doraemon shop and bought 1 plate, 1 cup, 1 bowl & i pair of portable pink chopsticks for JY.

Found a new Sport

called Cutting the nails of JY.. i perspired so much just to cut her nails with her wriggling toes/fingers and non-stop pumping action from her hands and legs.

Babies have short attention span, Jingyi has even shorter attention span, we barely can keep her occupy and keep her entertained enough to stop her from moving for 10sec. The only way to keep her meaningfully engaged is interactive rough play.
