Hi Tea w Pseudo Tai-Tais

I took a day off on 18 June to enjoy an afternoon of high tea at Shanri-la Veranda. Since i already strike off diary products and nuts in my diet, i was tempted to just cave in this once just to get my craving of cream, butter, cheese, biscuits and cakes! Just thinking about it makes me DROOOL....

I got WJ & JY to come along for this leisure afternoon chit-chat w the SSC gals. KM came early to my plc and carried JY, at first lil one was sceptical of this 'strange auntie' but warmed up to her so fast that JY slept in KM's arms in the car.

Lil JY found HCM's finger to be so delicious that she kept biting it ferociously until i got to carry JY away to stop her attacks.

Bumbo the Potty

Every time without fail, JY will poo poo or attempt to poo til she turn red in the face. Several times, we discover she poo so much that it overflow & stained the bumbo chair.

JY will stretch & strained as if she wants to get out of the bumbo chair, often giving us a scare as she's almost out of the bumbo. She has now 2 bumbo chairs, 1 pink at my mum's plc, 1 yellow one at my MIL's plc.
Everyone enjoys her presence at mealtimes & watched her see us eat...

Yummy thumb

Since JY got acquainted with the thumb. Deep inside i was like 'Yippeee!! at last she knows how to soothe herself to sleep and i get some rest at last!' true enough, she was busy sucking her thumb when it's near her bedtime and was quite satisfied lying at my mum's shoulders. The moment she saw me, ashe fussed and ot got louder when i carried her...so no choice, i gave her the human pacifier....me. Sigh, the end is not near yet....

One afternoon while she napped, i caught sight of her stuffing her thumb in her mouth to sleep.

New activity

JY has started stuffing things into her mouth, biting, chewing and rubbing against her gums. We picked up this green teething toy from Pigeon and proved to be a big hit with her. she love to stick it in and roll it around her mouth before pulling out and she'll repeat this until she's bored.

While lying in her cot, she would always stare up at the ceiling and left us wondering what is she so enchanted by........until we realised, she's looking at her own reflections!

Scratch the Itch

Lil JY is especially irritated these days as her ezcema gotten worse. She often scratch herself from her hair, face, body, hands and legs so much that it pains us. She doesn't sleep well in the night, often waking up crying and scratching her head. Due to this, i had countless visits to the doctors, getting cream and bath/shampoo for her almost monthly. I also have switched bathwash for her so many times, from mustela to pigeon to gaia to jurlique, now i'm on doctor's recommendation. All doesn't work. only the cream, which i'm reluctant as it's steroid.

I have also totally avoided diary products and nuts, both i loved so much. It was such a conscious effort to cut off these totally and it took me a few weeks to adjust as i didn't realise that they have become part of my daily diet and Sg food culture is not sophiscated enough to label lactose-free or not, include nuts or not.

We have an appointment with a skin specialist for baby but the pedeatrician did mention that ezcema can only be controlled and not cured completed. so as long as we find out what is the trigger and avoid it, it should be fine. But the dilemma is the trigger is food? environment? external creams/lotions/laundry detergent? Even now, i can't even find the trigger to my own ezcema...

She's at it.....

Suck her thumb that is. My dad & mum excitedly announced to me that JY sucked her thumb (right) & nodded off to dreamland in the afternn. Well, they claim this habit comes from me since WJ doesn't have this habit when young. To me, she was more into chewing her thumb and rubbing her gums with it.

There were debates whether she is a lefty (like her mom) or righty (dad), by analysing the side she rolled over & fist/thumb she sucked....

I was secretly hoping she'll be a lefty,anyway it's too early to tell :)

Visit to Great Grandparents Again!

Now, visits to great grandparents are getting crowded again..the crowd-puller? Babies of cos...7mths little Caitlyn & 5mths little Jingyi. my grandma, despite her dementia, she carried Jingyi and was laughing the moment she saw JY and we haven't heard her laugh so happily for a long long time :)

I hope to be able to bring the lil JY to see them again, hoping to brighten up their days with the presence of this cutie-pie. I"m so proud of lil JY as she takes to unfamiliar faces quite well and is an quiet angel when's outside.

Starting from Young

When I was young, i remembered my mother would troop us all to the Bedok Library every weekend to borrow books & it's always a treat to eat A&W next door. I promised to myself that i'll allow my little ones to start reading as soon as they can...For Lil JY, my sister & i bought some nice colourful books for her to stare and amuse herself.

With her joining us at the daily breakfast table recently, she's starting to take an interest in the newspapers too. She seems happy enough to share the papers with her mummy

Frog legs

One of my friend told me he start feeding frog-legs porridge to his babies when they are 6-9mths so they can have strong legs and start walking soon.... I'm not sure i'll do that cos firstly i'm quite yucky on froglegs and secondly JY owns a pair of frog legs...

Whenever i change diapers for her, her shadow kicks always land on my chest & stomach, once i got winded by her so badly i gotta stop and cough to get my breath back. Just a few days back, she has tried a few bounces on me & my mum's laps and one evening, she took 3 small steps...one on my bed , one to step up on my stomach and she took another step forward on me!

Morning Duties

Every morning, JY has her duties. She'll wake up early in the morning and make her rounds to wake her uncle and auntie. Then join us at the breakfast table, she'll either send us off to work then have her bath, if she has a morning poo, she'll take her bath first.

Her grasp is getting stronger by the day and sometimes it's so painful when she's scratched us. She can hold her towel and play tug of war with whoever is bathing her. After a nice bath, she's all energetic and raring to explore the outside world! She gaze exctedly at the door whenever she hears the keys.

Almost every morning, she'll send me & my sister off to work. Then she'll have another round with my brother to send him off to work. JY loves to stroll along the corridor, flaying her arms and legs excitedly everytime without fail. Her enthusiasm gives a perky start to our day.

Say Cheese

In the car, sucking her hand...favourite teething activity

Making friends with squashed Giraffe

Looking indignantly at Yiyi

She can now sit for a few seconds sometimes keeping her balance

Maybe JY is attracted to the camera, she never fail to look straight into the camera and we'll have the cutest picture of her staring at you..some of these are hot favourites..i stop counting but think JY has more photos than me & WJ combined til date....

Portraits

I'm always the one armed with the camera, seldom on the other end...a few of those that i love of Jingyi though i can't say the same for myself...

PWJ decided that one day he wants to take Jingyi out, and so he did! He carefully planned the day itinerary and discussed thoroughly with me, made me wanna take a day off to accompany them on the day's outing. WJ took JY to town and had lunch with WJ's mum who's so happy to see JY and took a stroll in Centrepoint & back to my mum's plc, am so glad of the bonding session they had :) i know WJ wld scream at me for putting this photo but i really love their expressions...haha

Shifting Office

It's getting harder to keep regular updates on blog, evenings are a whirl of activities with coming back, bath, bag milk, feed JY, eat dinner, put to sleep...i sometimes were so exhausted i sleep at 9pm.

In any case, our organisation have shifted to a new office space and started operation at Redhill so our last day at OMB was last Friday. Office was a huge mess with bags and bags of junk and files and papers blocking every passageway and tons of boxes. I sort of missed the "old" office cos

1) it was a new & nice building, strategically sandwiched between the current (shenton way) & upcoming financial district (downtown marina) hubs.
2) it's aircon all the way from the mrt to office
3) accessible to all amenities (bank, eateries be it organic, muslim, etc, cafes, shops)
4) lovely view of the cityscape
5) it was designed by my sister!

I have witness quite a number of weird encounters like, my first sighting of a water spout (previous blog in Oct/ Nov 2006 i think), my first earthquake tremor (the Sumatra big quake in 07 i think), every pre-NDP works at National Stadium & floating platform, the completion of Singapore Flyer.

My view everyday when i walked to the pantry, at times i carted my laptop and plonked down at the table to work. There used to be Neptune Theatre & Restaurant & rustic Collyer Quay... now all torn down to make way for commercial owners generating more money...
My view everyday at my workdesk..at first it was a vast empty field, now the MBS is halfway through....pity i can't see it receiving it's first guests...

HortPark with Grandma & YiYi

Her first outing with grandma, YiYi & me! My sis especially took a day off, which is very RARE to gallivant with us and since i'm still on PT work...we excitedly got ready & went out on a friday morning to HortPark & Vivocity. The trip to Hortpark was great, though sunny and hot. The only downside is navigating the pretty stone steps with the pram and avoiding the millipedes crawling around on the park pathways, but think little JY enjoyed the pram ride.

First time i took the wheel driving my daughter........

Enjoying the ride!

Little JY with her tippy toes socks.

passing by mummy's workplace where her colleagues are hard at work.

Everyone was tired when we reached home but we are all so happy to have spend a lovely day with the cutie-pie
