Wedding Dnr
Another one got hitched..a JC guy fren, we used to nickname him Gargarmel...attended with another JC guy fren... luckily there's him around, the rest really lost contact with them...otherwise i have to endure a 3hr dinner 8 courses all by myself..so coincidentally, met another friend at the wedding dnr, Ah Beng!! who happens to be the groom's(Gagarmel) new colleague..I'm not used to sitting down at a wedding dnr & be just a ordinary..hmm..should i say.. diner(??!)..and i saw ALL the very cliche moments, maybe we shld have a poll of which ones are the TOP Cliche of Wedding Dinners
The nominees are;....
- The pompous display of MaGNIFIcent Song PRESENTING the First Dish, where all solemn banquet waitress marched in and my goosebumps starts to stand
- requesting tables along the aisle to handle the bubble blower (in the shape of Nemo) or throw flower petals/confetti/watever glitters & flitters to aim at the newly weds.
- cake cutting(come on, it's just holding & placing the knife into a stipulated narrow strip in the syrofoam multi-tired wedding cake where no one else in the audience sees)
- the moment of groom popping the champagne cos everyone would be so concerned whether the cork would fly and hit into our faces.
- or the DIE- DIE MUST Yam Seng portion where the 'brothers' would shout til their voices are hoarse and the rest of the diners have to endured with a pained and almost embarassed look throughout the 3 yam sengs...
Yet strange enough, these cliches are actually bearable when I'm helping out at fren's dnrs.. and i must say i thoroughly enjoyed being there for my close friends cos you naturely wanted the best for them & nothing beats seeing their blissful but tired looks on their face at the end of the night.
dont know why, suddenly feel so jaded and tired..must be grouchiness wearing off...

haha, I can't agree more. I was so "sian" during a wedding dinner on Sat that I spent my time outside the ballroom...despite the fact that the groom is Iain's cousin. Well, I just used the excuse that I needed fresh air.
